Statistical reports, 1975-1982 [state publication].

The series, Statistical Reports, was compiled through a joint effort of the Department of Youth Services, the Alabama Juvenile Courts, and the State Department of Human Resources. The Criminal Justice Information Center collaborated on many of the reports. The data provides a summary and analysis of juvenile delinquency and CHINS cases as recorded by the juvenile courts as well as abuse, neglect, dependency, and special proceedings cases reported to the Department during a calendar year. The reports also contain statistics concerning programs operated or licensed by the Department. Included are a summary of findings and data tables measuring referral reasons by county, race, sex, and age; dispositions; offense information; rank orders of counties, by offense; runaways, through the Interstate Compact on Juveniles; departmentally operated or licensed programs, by county, race, age, parental status and employment, intellectual/educational levels, etc.; and abuse, neglect, dependency, and special proceedings, from Human Resources. The Department was charged by legislation (1973) effective in 1975 to collect statistics and information concerning delinquency, and dependency and neglect cases, the latter records of which are referred to Human Resources. This series documents those functions. Information in the reports may vary somewhat from year to year.
